I had an amazing week at Don't Panic Labs' Software Design and Development Clinic. It was a five day course that taught Software Engineering Principals and Techniques to software developers.

I learned many things, including;

  • - Managing complexity
  • - Designing for change
  • - System Decomposistion
  • - Layerd quality approaches
  • - Improving system maintainability
  • - Leveraging code reviews

The class itself takes a lot from Juval Lowry's IDesign Method. Having sat through this, I really want to attend one of his Architecture Master Classes.

I don't know how much the IDesign classes are, but DPL's was an amazing value for the price. I highly recommend anyone in the Lincoln area checking it out!
